The calculator follows the binding framework laid down in Sarla Verma v. DTC (2009) 6 SCC 121 and National Insurance v. Pranay Sethi (2017) 16 SCC 680. Every multiplier and conventional-head value is linked to its source paragraph.
Effective 1 July 2024, the Indian Penal Code (1860), Code of Criminal Procedure (1973), and Indian Evidence Act (1872) were replaced by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam respectively. Section numbering, language, and several procedural defaults have changed — the Section Converter maps every section bidirectionally.
